Commercial/Industrial Electrician

Type: Full Time

Location: State College, Pennsylvania

Commercial/Industrial Electrician

Summit Service Solutions places skilled electricians on long-term commercial and industrial work that keeps plants running and buildings coming online. For almost a decade we have matched tradespeople with contractors who need people who can hang conduit, terminate feeders, and keep production equipment live—safely and on schedule. This first-shift role is how we deliver that promise in Pennsylvania and nearby markets.

Performance Objectives

  • Install EMT, rigid, IMC, and flex; bend and fabricate runs so layouts match prints and pass inspection the first time.
  • Pull, terminate, and land branch and feeder conductors; install lighting, devices, panels, disconnects, transformers, switchgear, motors, VFDs, and MCCs to NEC and project specs.
  • Read blueprints, one-lines, and schematics; lay out work and coordinate with other trades so the job stays on sequence.
  • Test circuits, verify voltage and phase rotation, troubleshoot faults, and restore equipment with minimal downtime.
  • Wire sensors, limit switches, and field devices; support PLC and automation commissioning where the site requires it.
  • Follow OSHA, LOTO, and site safety rules every day; keep the work area clean and report hazards immediately.

Environment & Resources

You work on active commercial construction or manufacturing floors (plastics, food & beverage, packaging, and similar). Summit assigns you to client sites, provides the placement, and backs you with recruiting support. You bring standard hand tools and OSHA-compliant PPE (hard hat, ANSI glasses, hi-vis, long pants, safety-toe boots, gloves, hearing protection). Report through the site lead; we stay in contact so assignments stay long-term and first-shift. Pay is typically $28–$35/hour based on demonstrated skill.

Essential Qualifications

  • Five or more years commercial electrical construction, or six-plus years industrial/manufacturing electrical work, including EMT bending and conduit install.
  • Able to interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams and work to NEC.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to lift up to 75 lbs as needed.
  • Own basic electrical hand tools and required PPE; consent to a pre-employment drug screen (drug-free workplace).
  • Authorized to work in the United States. Journeyman/Master license or OSHA card preferred, not required.

Role Selling Points

  • $1,500 referral bonuses and a staffing partner that treats electricians as careers, not just fills.
  • 401(k) with match, PTO, holiday pay, health insurance, plus life, disability, and limited medical options.
  • Steady first-shift commercial and industrial work with contractors who need people who can actually install and troubleshoot.
